Programs and rates
All of our programs put traditional, high-quality karate training front and centre, and include lessons on Japanese history, culture and the language of karate.
New students are treated with respect, always. Okotoks Karate is an inclusive dojo where intolerance and bullying is not tolerated.

Ages 4-5
2 x 45-minute classes per week
The littlest ninjas will enjoy a gentle introduction to karate while building gross motor skills, overall fitness, flexibility, social skills and focus. In class, students will learn basic techniques, Japanese words, a few katas, and have a lot of fun.

Ages 6-9
2 x 45-minute classes per week
These belt-specific classes focus on basic or intermediate techniques, depending on the child's experience level, and include lessons on Japanese terminology. Students will work on katas specific to their next grading, and beyond. These students will build confidence, focus, discipline, determination and leadership, alongside their fitness and flexibility. Traditional Japanese weapons (kobudo) is also introduced.

Ages 10-15
3 x 60-minute classes per week
Beginners learn the basics while having fun, intermediates progress as they advance and face constructive new challenges and katas. A big part of these classes is about developing discipline, courage and leadership skills in students.

16+/Adults
3 x 75-minute classes per week
Students over 16 years old, regardless of skill level, train together—focusing on self-defense, partner work and mentoring. It's a very welcoming and respectful atmosphere where we all work together to make our community a better, happier and healthier place to live. Black and brown belts of all ages also train with this group.

This all-ages class is perfect for families seeking a simpler scheduling option. Families, parents and siblings bond while learning karate together. We mix it up to keep things fresh and accommodate all ages, fitness and skill levels.
